"Annual Afshin Jafari Prize for the best Economic paper"

Afshin Jafari Mojdehi, a faculty member of Institute for Research on Planning and Development (IRPD), was a young researcher who devoted his short but influential life to study and research in Iranian Economics. He was well known as a genius in his field, and acknowledged as an outstanding researcher who put his researches into practice. He passed away on September, 10th 2003 after three years of courageous battle with Leukemia.

In gratitude for all his friendship and his courage , and to prolong his devotion to the development of economics studies in Iran, his friends in Iran and abroad are holding an annual contest for the best graduate student paper in the field of economics. Afshin Jafari Award is a monetory price
that will be handed out to the winner in Iran.

 

Individuals who are interested in sharing experiences and knowledge are invited to submit their papers for this contest, following the guidelines listed below.

Afshin-Prize 2007 will cover a variety of challenging economic topics; these topics include, but are not limited to:

            1. International Economics

            2. Urban, Rural, and Regional Economics

            3. Financial Economics

            4. Labor and Demographic Economics

            5. Microeconomics

            6. Mathematical and Quantitative Methods

            7. Law and Economics

            8. Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics

            9. Industrial Organization

            10. Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics

            11. Schools of Economic Thought and Methodology

            12. Public Economics

            13. Economic Systems

            14. Health, Education, and Welfare

            15. Economic History

            16. General Economics and Teaching

            17. Economic Development, Technological Change, and Growth

            18. Finance 

Also , this year an additional prize (150$) will be offered to the best paper in the area of environmental economics.

 Language

Papers in both Farsi and English languages are accepted, but English language is preferable.

 

Important Dates

Submission of full paper and abstracts: May 20 2008 (31th of Ordibehesht 1387)  papers received later than this  deadline will be considered for the next year contest.
Announcing the winner: July 2008(Tir 1387)

 

Instructions to Authors

  • All papers should be typed with single spacing on A4 size paper with 2.5 cm margin on all sides, and should include abstract, introduction, conclusion and references parts. All papers shall be restricted in length to 30 pages, including acknowledgements, appendices, images, figures and tables.

  • The first page of paper should consist of the title, the authors’ name and institutional affiliations, an abstract of not more than 200 words, up to five keywords, and the corresponding author’s address, phone and email address.  All papers should have both English and Farsi abstracts.

  •  By submitting a paper, the author(s) warrant that they are the copyright holders; Abstracts of all qualified papers are placed on our website to provide public access to the authors and their works

  • Authors should submit a short biodata together with their submission of the paper.

  • Rejected papers would not be accepted  for the following years competitions.
